Palm CottagesVacation Rentals in Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico Located on the north shore of Vieques Island in Bravos de Boston, Palm Cottages is one of the homes that comprise the Sanctuary, a residential compound which was formerly a church. In the lovely "Vieques Garden District" the house is surrounded by exceptional tropical landscaping designed and maintained by the well-known Bravos Boyz, whose offices are in the old church. The Sanctuary compound includes Palm Cottages, and Pool Cottage - a private residence in what was a portion of the old church, and several outbuildings. The two cottages share a beautifully landscaped private pool. A winding walkway through a side garden leads from the entry gate to Palm Cottages which is hidden from the street. Perched above the pool, the house looks out over a charming Caribbean neighborhood of colorful houses and lush tropical landscape.
Adjacent to Palm Cottages is the delightful "Folly" A folly is defined in Webster's dictionary as "a whimsical structure erected to enhance a romantic landscape". The "Folly", a tiny screened outdoor living area is just that and is the perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon nap or game of backgammon, and evening cocktails. Once the former church rectory, Palm Cottages has an open floor plan and was designed for easy island living and entertaining. The living and dining areas overlook the pool through large, floor-to-ceiling shuttered and screened windows. Sleeping areas are comprised of an open sleeping area in the main room and a separate bedroom opening out toward the folly. Both have queen-sized beds.

The Pool CottageThe Pool Cottage has an outdoor living area with a concrete dining table and a cozy seating area that is perfect for morning coffee or just enjoying the pool area. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms both with A/C. Both bedrooms have queen beds. One bedroom has it's own bathroom and there is also a second bathroom with an outside shower.

Horses meander by on the beach road. Dragonflies hover over the pool. One sees and hears chickens and hummingbirds, tiny lizards, the rolling surf and the constant, almost hypnotic rustle of palm trees. Beautiful La Chata beach, a short walk away, is perfect for a long stroll and has excellent spots for snorkeling.
With tropical green walls, white trim, and dark modern furniture including cozy upholstered pieces, Palm Cottages is decorated in a very comfortable, yet sophisticated island style. The cottage has dark concrete floor and contemporary concrete counter tops and sinks in both the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom has a large outdoor shower.
